ILM is the only awarding body to provide qualifications aimed at developing the coaching/mentoring ability of managers and training professionals, with the opportunity to progress to a professional qualification in coaching and mentoring if desired.

Aims and Objectives
To help you learn, in your capacity as an aspiring coach, about:

  • Understanding appreciative inquiry and how it can empower others
  • Assessment and how to agree an action plan

Duration of Programme
The Endorsed Award in Workplace Coaching is run as a 2 day workshop and the participant will undergo a total of 10 guided learning hours.

Assignment Work
Successful completion of a written assignment and a practical coaching assessment will enable participants to achieve the Endorsed Award in Workplace Coaching accredited by ILM.

Day One

To know the coaching approach, process and its benefits over other ways of learning and teaching

  • Attributes and attitudes of the good coach
  • How to listen and observe effectively
  • Coaching methods, solutions and styles

 

Understanding the coaching relationship and agreements

Knowledge and understanding of:

  • Awareness of barriers and how to overcome them
  • Rapport, trust and learning styles
  • Principles of adult learning

 

How to organise resources and create a learning environment

Knowledge and understanding of:

  • Looking at the physical environment
  • Checking attitudes and body language

 

To know the hidden meanings of questions

Knowledge and understanding of:

  • Using a range of questions types
  • Exploring the implications of words
  • Using questioning effectively

 

How to define and agree SMART goals and objectives

Knowledge and understanding of:

  • Defining objectives for yourself
  • Making them more specific and measurable
  • What actions will be required from them
 

How to use great coaching language

Knowledge and understanding of:

  • Turning statements into positive actions
  • Using facilitative phrasing
  • The use of silence and personal reflection techniques

Day Two

Successful completion of a short assessment on day two of the Workshop, will enable participants to achieve the Endorsed Award in Workplace Coaching accredited by ILM
