Project Governance - 1 Day Course
Overview
For many projects, good management is not sufficient to ensure feasibility, viability, priority and stakeholder interests. At a time of reducing resources of people and budgets we need some simple tools and checklists to enable better decision making at critical points before, during and after the project management process.
Project Governance is not a new name for project management, nor is it yet another layer of bureaucracy. Effective governance will ensure that your organisation’s project portfolio is aligned to your organisations objectives, is delivered efficiently and is sustainable.
This one day workshop will focus on practical approaches to achieving effective governance, and provide you with the tools you need to maintain organisational performance.
What Types of Project Benefit from Project Governance?
This workshop is not specific to particular types or contexts of project – the skills are generic. However, discussion and exercises will allow reference to different contexts to highlight the use of the techniques covered in a wide range of projects, such as:
- Internal structural projects in the Public and Private sectors:
o ICT
o Workforce restructuring and/or transformation
o Building and refurbishing
- Ideas, system and qualification development:
o Procurement
o Bidding and tendering
o Framework development
- Commissioned, funded projects:
o ESF and EU projects
o Big Society and NEET
o Special sector employment projects
