Managing Meetings - 1 Day Course

Overview

Everybody who works will have to attend meetings, usually on a regular basis. Sadly it is very common for people to leave their meetings feeling that; it was a waste of time; little was achieved; it wasn’t run well; no conclusions were drawn up; the control was lost at times; there were hidden agendas not dealt with; the meeting should not even have been called in the first place; their attendance was not necessary; it did not start or finish on time; the agenda was poor or non-existent; and that ….well, it could have been run a whole lot better.

Aims and Objectives

This workshop, ideal for anyone who convenes a group of people together to meet and discuss, will, through several practical demonstrations and role plays, enable delegates to:

  • Understand and apply what makes a good, positive meeting and how to Chair that meeting
  • Draw up an effective agenda
  • Recognise the elements of good and bad meetings
  • Take good minutes
  • Ensure post meeting follow up
  • Chair a meeting well understanding precisely what the role of the Chair is
  • Keep the meeting lively and fresh
  • Maintain good control
  • Understand group psychology and the different types of meeting contributions
  • Gain insight into other organisations’ ideas
  • Take away a whole series of meeting tips and an Action Plan to improve their own meetings

Content

The workshop will cover the following topics:

  • Good and Bad Meetings
  • ‘Let’s Meet!’
  • Agendas
