Overview

This Workshop will provide an opportunity to review sources of funding for education, schools and children & young peoples projects.  The education and CYP funding environment is changing radically and major changes are currently being planned or implemented in terms of central government and other education funding.  Due to these structural changes, the advent of free schools, academies, the abolition of the children’s trusts, the pupil premium and changes to the Building Schools for the Future programme; it is now clear that education organisations, schools and CYP projects will need to seek funding through a diverse range of options and develop new fundraising strategies.

How will such changes affect the current funding environment? What are the new opportunities, through policy initiatives like Free Schools and Academies the Big Society and Localism, the pupil premium, commissioning frameworks and outcome related funding?

We examine how education organisations and CYP projects can utilise PTA’s, Friends of Schools groups, social enterprises, registered charities and other non- profit making structures to access funding from a range of diverse sources.  These are detailed in slides, an information pack and other resources provided as part of the workshop, which will be fully interactive and involve group exercises and discussion.

We also examine the potential impact of proposed outcome related funding models and the funding to support these developments.  There are still many other funding streams available for education and CYP projects and we review existing funding sources including charitable trusts, the Big Lottery, private sector funding, social investment and European Funding.  We also look at the opportunities presented by the Big Society, Localism and Decentralisation and how these can be utilised to access funding.

The course also features case studies, resources for development and sources of further information.  Delegates will also be given a broad range of supporting documentation and information in CD or memory stick form and will be provided with information regarding useful websites and web based resources.
