Accessing Funding for Vocational Training - LDV workshop

Overview

With a budget of €1.75bn, Leonardo is a key funder of vocational education & training.  It supports the development of skills and training, including work placements for trainees, workers and staff, as well as large scale European projects designed to discuss common issues or develop new training materials, courses or frameworks.  UK based organisations have an exciting opportunity to work with counterparts from across Europe.

Anyone involved in vocational education (formal, informal or non-formal) can take part in Leonardo, including learners, staff, volunteers and trainers from a wide variety of organisations.  The programme is open to all UK organisations involved in work-based education and training and can help employers to build a skilled workforce.  Projects offer a great opportunity for staff & learners to gain experience, as well as organisational benefits.

Deadlines for Applications

Please note the above events will only be relevant to organisations who are definitely intending to apply to Leonardo in Jan/Feb 2013, see deadlines below:

Large Scale Co-operation (Transfer of Innovation): 31 January 2013

Leonardo Mobility: 1 February 2013

Small Scale Co-operation (Partnerships): 21 February 2013

Content

The aim of this workshop is to familiarise organisations with the Leonardo programme and through a combination of group discussions, presentations and exercises, to raise delegates’ awareness of the broad range of possible activities and projects.  Using his experience as an assessor to the programme and former project manager, the facilitator will offer important tips on both bid writing and project design.

The workshop will explore the wide-ranging areas of interest covered by the Leonardo Programme, including placements and exchanges, partnerships, multilateral projects and thematic networks.   During the event, delegates will become more familiar with the types of activities that can be funded, looking at examples of previous projects, as well as how to identify and work with suitable European partners.

The workshop will help prepare delegates to meet the requirements of the final programme deadlines in January/Februay 2013 and will specifically cover: recognition of competencies (formal, informal and non-formal learning); vocational training effectiveness (quality assurance procedures); teacher training (curriculum development & pedagogical skills); and responding to labour market needs (working with businesses/social partners).

The event is particularly relevant to organisations interested in:

i) Recognition of Competencies (formal, informal and non-formal learning)

ii) Vocational Training Effectiveness (quality assurance procedures)

iii) Teacher Training (curriculum development and pedagogical skills)

iv) Responding to Labour Market Needs (working with businesses/social partners)

v) Working with Groups At Risk (NEET, migrants, low skilled, elderly, unemployed)
