Public Sector Procurement - 1 Day Intermediate Level Training Course

Overview

'Improving Public Sector Procurement - The Latest Approaches, Processes & Templates’ is for staff who already have experience of public procurement, and are looking to improve the results obtained and to incorporate, in their work, the latest government thinking and approaches on procurement.

This workshop is a natural follow on from our introductory course: Essentials of Public Sector Procurement - Comprehensive Introduction

The one day course provides a detailed overview of the aims and objectives of public sector procurement, and the mechanisms of running the appropriate procurement processes. This workshop will be especially appropriate for those becoming responsible for commissioning projects attracting public funds from the UK or European sources.Information, exercises and group work enables delegates to explore bid writing using supportive and accessible learning strategies.

Content

This workshop draws on the best practices in UK public sector procurement, and provides a series of templates for running procurement processes for all sectors and all values.

The workshop will cover:

  • Current UK priorities and policies
  • Use of frameworks
  • Use of third party buying agents
  • Collaboration with other authorities
  • Use of OJEU tender routes
  • Use of Competitive Dialogue route
  • Publication of public sector spend data
  • Economic Benefit clauses and processes
  • Legislation framework and key thresholds
  • Bidder feedback processes and objectives

The facilitator for this course has extensive experience of procurement and sales in both the public and private sectors. Drawing on his experiences in procurement for a major multinational, and more than a decade of working with and for the UK public sector, his courses provide an insight into best practice from the UK and overseas and include up to date approaches to the vital and rapidly changing sector of public procurement. He is also the co-author of one of the few textbooks on UK Public sector Procurement.
