Using Ofqual Regulations to Work Effectively with Awarding Organisations, Improve Quality & Reduce Bureaucracy (WS5924)Wednesday, 19th September 2012, Birmingham City Centre OverviewOfqual’s role is now strategic and their remit is to focus on regulating the awarding organisations. You will have seen the impact of this in the recent investigations of some awarding organisations and the information they appear to have given in training about exam content. The action Ofqual has taken is through their new regulation "General Conditions of Recognition". This regulation applies across all QCF and Ofqual regulated qualifications and it is only a matter of time before Ofqual's attention turns to the post-16 sector and qualification routes. There are many benefits to this new regulation; it brings increased flexibility and opportunities for centres to drop bureaucracy and spend more time on practice rather than paperwork. Changes mean:
This means you can ask your AO representative to show you where the AO states you must do what they ask. This is your opportunity to examine your existing procedures and documentation and make appropriate challenges in areas that are burdensome (signatures and dates on evidence, for example). This event will cover how the QCF is different from the NQF and will illustrate the flexibility it offers; it will explain the new regulatory model and tell you who is responsible for what. The practice required for assessment and quality assurance and the associated records will also be confirmed. You will leave the event knowing precisely what awarding organisations are responsible for, the service you can expect from them and how to work with your EQA, including making positive challenges to any requests. ObjectivesBy the end of this event, you will be able to:
