EU - Best Practice in Evaluation Techniques, including Exit and Sustainability Strategies (WS5667)

Tuesday, 18th September 2012, Bristol City Centre

184

Overview

How does a project measure its impact? Increasingly, public funded projects are being asked to demonstrate the net effect of the intervention in terms of its value and contribution to change.

This workshop will consider the role of economic development and the measurement techniques available for use by projects, partnerships and funding providers and take a look at exit strategies and sustainability.

Content

The role of evaluation in project delivery has come under the spotlight in recent years as regional, economic and regeneration policies have become more focused and quantifiable. As regional delivery adopts a greater emphasis so too does the requirement to visibly demonstrate value for money – though this should be done without losing sight of the ultimate aim of the regeneration funds; that is to create, impact, change and sustainability.

The aim of this workshop is to consider how programme and project managers can best apply evaluation techniques to provide meaningful reporting information that adds value to strategic planning. The workshop will provide a review of economic and social evaluation practices.

  • Role and Purpose of Evaluation
  • Evaluation Tools and Techniques
  • Evaluation in Practice
  • Designing an Exit and or Sustainable Strategy

Although the subject matter will be based on the management of Structural Fund Programmes, the content will be equally applicable to delegates using other funds.
