Funding for Registered Social Landlords & Housing Associations (3177)

21st–30th July 2010, Birmingham, City Centre

Funding for Registered Social Landlords & Housing Associations

Overview

Registered Social Landlords and other housing organisations are increasingly becoming involved in regenerating their estates and neighbourhoods. This has resulted in a range of training, development and regeneration projects managed directly or delivered in partnership with others, by housing organisations. Central and Local government, Europe and other funding agencies are increasingly looking to work with housing organisations.

The workshop will examine some of the more common funds (UK wide, regional, local and European) and provide guidance on the routes to access and how these funds can be utilised within your organisation.

Content

The aim of the workshop is to review a selection of the different types of public and charitable funds available to organisations engaged in community regeneration activities.

Through presentations and group discussion, the facilitator will illustrate how public and charitable funding works, which funds are typically accessable and for what purpose. Delegates will learn how to “best guess” the future objectives of the main funders, Europe.

The workshop will cover:

The key differences of funding streams and how external funding can support the work of housing organisations:

  • Overview of key developments and central and local government & funding streams
  • Capacity building – a health check of organisational readiness for the management of funding
  • Funding sources for housing organisations – Grants, Trusts, Regeneration Funding, employment funding and Charities
  • European Funding – overviewing the Structural Funds and other programmes
  • Funding priorities – the targeting of external funding and how to access it
  • Sources of information and support
