Contracting for Commissioned Services (1122)Tuesday, 23rd January 2007, OverviewWhilst it may feel that the end of the commissioning exercise has been reached once suppliers have been identified, in reality the process is only at mid-point as the service has yet to be delivered and concluded. Overseeing this delivery is the contract and, whilst the standard terms and conditions of contract are legally important, effective management is controlled through the separate schedules and appendices. A review of best practice of schedule content and structure is covered in this one-day event with exemplars provided for comparison. ContentThis one-day workshop will cover the practicalities of writing contracts for the provision of services such as teaching and learning, community development, business consultancy, etc – activities secured through the commissioning process. It will review the legal aspects of contract content and explore best practice in the development of contract annexes and service specifications – where the important parameters of contract management are embedded. The objective of this one-day workshop is to provide assistance to organisations and their staff who are new to contract writing and contract management and those currently involved who wish to check out best practice. Content will incorporate the structure of standard contracts within the United Kingdom acknowledging differences between legal systems; and developing the contract delivery specifications concerned with scope, outputs, finances and monitoring conditions. Contracting for Commissioned Services will provide contract managers with a greater understanding of the relationship between the tender and the provision of contracted services. The workshop’s format is practical and participative with delivery facilitated through the use of case studies and templates for completion and will cover:
