'Developing a Transition Model'

This session will look at the experience of Abingdon and Witney College in Oxfordshire in developing an integrated transition programme between school and college for young learners with severe learning difficulties.  Using a social enterprise working model as the tool, the college and partner schools have developed and embedded a common transition curriculum that is delivered across all partners and is also used as the primary basis for the assessment and content of the individual learning programme.  Teresa will set out the model that has been developed and also look at some of the hurdles and issues that have had to be overcome.

Jill and a colleague from Pulp Friction will talk about their fabulous micro enterprise, how it got started, achievements to date and how it manages to simultaneously offer opportunities, challenge preconceptions and .....make you smile

Ceri Edwards

'From SEN to Masters - Case Study'

Ceri is a 24 year old young man who will share his experience of difficulties at primary school, receiving a diagnosis of severe Dyslexia, mild Attention Deficit Disorder and Dyscalculia at the age of 10. Ceri will explain how he learnt to make the best use of his strengths and went on to achieve several GCSE's, AS, A levels and an honours degree. Ceri is now working full time and studying part time for a Master's degree in Philosophy.

Jackie Edwards, Ceri's mother will also be available to answer any questions.
