Beyond Redundancy - Planning and Preparing a Working Future

Overview

What is there beyond redundancy?

There is no such thing now as a ‘job for life’ the average person can now expect to have at least 6 jobs in the course of their working life, so planning for the future has implications both for the employee and for employers. Making people redundant or being made redundant is now an established process for many professions and occupations.

This one day workshop has been designed to help those managers and staff who have to deal with the personal consequences of redundancy and organisational restructuring. It will also be highly relevant for HR managers and professionals who have to manage people through this complicated process.

We review the process; look at potential options for redundant staff, managers and employees, and examine how organisations can support employees during and after the redundancy process. Delegates will explore options like self-employment, interim management, company and social enterprise development. We will also look at the soft skills needed to access new jobs and employment opportunities, such as interview and communication skills, maintaining and enhancing skills, marketing yourself and other key competencies and personal development.
